Customized export case of salt food grade sealed inner liner container bags for southern cuisine

1. Project Overview

The cooperating client is a large‑scale salt production and processing enterprise in Chile, specializing in the mining, purification, repackaging and export of refined edible salt. Part of its finished edible salt is distributed to domestic supermarkets, while the majority is shipped by sea to food processing plants and condiment manufacturers across neighbouring South‑American countries.

Previously, the enterprise used ordinary unlined woven FIBC bulk bags for edible‑salt packaging. Edible salt readily absorbs moisture from ambient air and becomes caked. Salt grains leaked out through stitching pinholes of the woven bags. Furthermore, standard bags failed to meet food‑contact safety standards. Impurities and micro‑organism growth could occur during long‑term storage, which violated local food‑packaging regulations. Exacerbated by drastic day‑and‑night temperature variations and high humidity during long‑distance sea transport, large consignments of salt were frequently rejected upon arrival due to moisture caking, leakage and non‑compliant hygiene conditions, resulting in high losses and return‑related costs. The client was in urgent need of special‑purpose FIBCs with food‑grade certification, reliable moisture‑proof sealing and leak‑proof performance, to guarantee consistent and compliant quality of edible salt throughout storage and transportation.

2. Client‑Specific Requirements

The cargo to be loaded is refined edible salt. All raw materials and fabrics must satisfy food‑contact safety requirements, pass food‑packaging hygiene tests and comply with South‑American food‑import access regulations. A fully sealed moisture‑barrier structure inside the bag shall block external moisture and prevent salt from caking, adapting to humid conditions over prolonged sea‑voyage transportation. All stitching seams shall be tightly sealed to stop fine salt grains from leaking through pinholes, eliminating material loss and container contamination. The bags shall be clean, odour‑free and free of surface‑dust shedding to avoid contaminating edible salt. Robust lifting loops shall withstand repeated hoisting by overhead cranes and forklift‑pallet handling for cyclic reuse. The bag top opening shall be tie‑able for complete closure after filling, delivering lasting dust‑proof and water‑proof performance.

3. Custom‑Delivered Product Solution

Tailored for food‑grade edible‑salt storage‑transportation and marine shipping conditions, we supplied custom‑made FIBCs integrated with food‑grade PE inner liners.

The outer shell adopts virgin white food‑grade PP woven fabric with no recycled‑material additives. It is clean and odour‑free, with all hygiene indicators meeting food‑contact requirements. An integrally formed cylindrical food‑grade PE plastic liner is fitted inside the bag, fully enclosing the edible‑salt payload. The liner opening can be simultaneously gathered and tied for sealing. This dual‑layer structure effectively blocks marine moisture ingress and prevents salt from deliquescing and caking.

All bag seams adopt heavy‑duty double‑stitch sewing to minimise pinhole gaps. Fine sealing cotton strips are fitted inside seams to fully block gaps and stop fine‑salt‑grain leakage. Four‑corner lifting loops are sewn with full‑edge wrapping reinforcement for even stress distribution, resisting tearing under repeated hoisting and suiting plant‑site handling and full‑cycle marine transportation.

Products are manufactured under hygienic process controls and undergo dust‑removal and disinfection prior to delivery to avoid impurity contamination. Complete qualification documentation is provided for Chilean customs clearance verification.

4. Project Outcomes & Client Feedback

Project Outcomes

Benefiting from food‑grade materials and built‑in PE moisture‑proof liners, the edible‑salt cargo remained dry and free‑flowing after dozens of days of ocean transit upon port arrival, with zero moisture‑caking cases and a 100‑percent product acceptance rate. Economic losses caused by cargo deterioration and customs rejection in the past have been completely eliminated.

Seam‑based leak‑proof design achieves zero salt‑grain spillage and zero material loss. Shipping containers stay clean with no extra cleaning work required. Hygienic production standards satisfy South‑American food regulations, enabling smooth customs clearance for every batch and greatly improving clearance efficiency.

Sturdy and wear‑resistant for multiple re‑uses, the bags bring about noticeable long‑term savings on packaging‑material procurement costs. Neat and clean packaging also upgrades the perceived quality of edible‑salt products, supporting the client in securing more food‑procurement orders from neighbouring countries.

Client Feedback

“These food‑protective FIBCs fully match our export‑oriented edible‑salt storage and transportation requirements. They deliver outstanding moisture‑proof and sealing performance, keeping salt free from caking with zero salt leakage and compliant hygiene standards. Both customs clearance and shipping become much more hassle‑free. The well‑crafted bags can be reused many times and substantially cut overall operating costs while preserving salt quality to the maximum extent. We will adopt custom‑made bags from our factory for all export‑grade edible‑salt packaging and maintain long‑term stable cooperation.”
