The client is a large‑scale domestic waste‑glass recycling and processing enterprise. Its core businesses include crushed‑glass sorting, washing, crushing, material handling and recycling. The plant can process over 80 tons of various crushed glass and hard‑glass scraps every day.
Previously, the enterprise used ordinary flexible FIBC bulk bags for crushed‑glass materials, which required external metal frames to keep the bags open for workshop sorting & stacking, warehouse storage and short‑distance truck transportation. This old‑style packaging solution was easily punctured and torn by sharp glass fragments. Frequent bag replacement pushed up consumable costs. Workers had to hold and stabilize bags during filling, consuming substantial labour. Idle empty bags and metal frames also took up massive warehouse space, leading to high overall operating costs. The enterprise was in urgent need of special‑purpose FIBCs featuring high puncture resistance, self‑standing filling capability and foldable storage after use. The new bags would replace old‑generation packaging and bulky metal supports to achieve comprehensive cost reduction and efficiency improvement in crushed‑glass storage and handling.
The loaded materials are crushed glass and hard‑glass scraps with sharp edges. Therefore, the bag fabric must deliver excellent puncture resistance to withstand scratching and cutting by glass sharp corners and minimise bag rupture and material leakage.
The bags shall stand upright automatically during filling. No manual holding or fixing is required under empty, half‑filled or fully‑loaded conditions to support non‑stop assembly‑line feeding. Internal support components shall be freely detachable, and empty bags shall be fully foldable after component removal, completely eliminating bulky external metal frames and saving warehouse space.
The plant also handles water‑washed damp glass raw materials under low‑temperature storage conditions. Hence, the bags shall be both moisture‑proof and anti‑static to avoid moisture‑related risks and static accumulation from glass dust.
High‑strength lifting fittings shall be fitted at four corners to suit repeated overhead‑crane and forklift hoisting on‑site. The reusable service life of the FIBCs shall be increased by more than 50 % compared with conventional bags. The total combined cost for custom‑made FIBC procurement and daily operation shall be lower than that of the previous solution using ordinary FIBCs plus metal support frames.
Based on the client’s on‑site working conditions for waste‑glass recycling and strict performance requirements, we custom‑developed self‑standing wear‑resistant FIBCs with built‑in hollow‑plate supports to satisfy all client demands.
Independent hollow‑plate pockets are sewn onto each side of the bag body for inserting aluminium‑plastic vacuum‑sandwich hollow panels. With panels inserted, the bag stands firmly without external steel‑frame supports. When not in use, the hollow panels can be pulled out so that the whole bag can be folded along fabric seams for storage.
The outer surface is fully covered with thickened curved polyester wear‑resistant protective sleeves, which shield the base fabric from direct friction by sharp glass fragments and fundamentally prevent puncture and tearing. Thanks to its vacuum‑sandwich structure, the hollow plate provides good thermal insulation and moisture resistance, well‑suited for damp glass materials and low‑temperature‑environment storage.
Integrally sewn heavy‑duty polypropylene lifting straps are fitted at four inner corners, offering outstanding tensile strength and wear resistance for stable lifting by overhead cranes or forklifts. The base fabric is heavy‑gauge polypropylene woven material coated with waterproof and anti‑static composite finish, which blocks moisture ingress and dissipates static electricity built‑up from glass dust. All stitching seams are reinforced with over‑locked stitching to further resist tearing caused by long‑term glass friction and extend the reusable service life of the FIBCs.
“These FIBCs with built‑in hollow‑plate supports have solved three long‑standing pain points for us: frequent bag rupture when loading crushed glass, inability of soft bulk bags to stand for filling, and excessive warehouse occupation by external metal frames. The outer wear‑resistant sleeves effectively resist scratches from glass edges. The self‑standing structure brings great convenience for assembly‑line operations. Folding empty bags frees up considerable warehouse space. Long‑term repeated use cuts costs on consumable procurement, labour hours and warehouse rental simultaneously. We will fully switch over to this product for all crushed‑glass turnover packaging in our plant and maintain long‑term stable repeat‑order cooperation with your factory.”
